40+ years on the cutting edge
And still here for you from start to finish
Supercalibrations founder Dallas Dingle, spent several years in the mid 1970s selling Hi-Fi audio gear at Sound of Music, a popular eight-store chain based in Bloomington, MN before starting out on his own in 1981. A friend suggested Supercalibrations would be a fun appropriate name for the new company and it stuck!
Shortly after, Sound of Music transitioned to the much larger format Best Buy Company and they hired Supercalibrations to design and install audio/video distribution systems for their fast expanding operation. During this period, Dallas continued to design and install audio/video systems for residential clients including home theaters, a concept just beginning to take hold around the country.
In 1989 Dallas flew to Las Vegas along with around 100 other home installation company owners from around the country to meet and discuss starting a trade association for their fledgling industry. The Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association or CEDIA was the result. The meeting was a success – current CEDIA conventions now draw 20,000 plus attendees!
Supercalibrations was continuing to expand in the early 1990s when current President and CEO Nate DeChene started as a project manager for commercial projects. After a few years, his position transitioned to the residential side of the business as a project manager, installer and designer. His knowledge and skills grew quickly, it wasn’t long before he was managing all projects and operations for the company.
After 40 years Supercalibrations continues to fine tune their design technique including custom built loudspeakers and amplifiers for discerning clients along with a focus on “concierge” style customer support. Supercalibrations knows that their installed systems are mostly used during evenings and weekends and as such they are available to assist anytime problems occur. Give us a call to find out more!
